Programme of Activities for Schools in the Veneto Region s.y. 2026-2027

Europe Direct of the Municipality of Venice, the European Commission's information service operating throughout the Veneto Region to increase awareness and encourage debate on European issues, particularly among young people and schools, offers free of charge a Programme of Activities for Veneto Schools for the 2026/2027 school year, consisting of 8 proposals addressed to teachers and students across the Veneto Region, divided between lower secondary schools and upper secondary schools. Europe Direct of the Municipality of Venice works in partnership in the Veneto Region with the Italian Ministry of Education and Merit (MIM) - Regional School Office for Veneto (USR Veneto) which promotes this programme of activities throughout the region.

Where necessary, the activities can also be delivered through distance learning modalities.

LOWER SECONDARY SCHOOL CLASSES
PROPOSAL 1 for classes
Educational game-based module "Europe Comes into the Classroom - A Journey through Europe", designed to explain the European Union, explore the customs and traditions of its 27 Member States, and introduce the fundamental principles of European citizenship.
=> At lower secondary schools in the Municipality of Venice, January-April 2027 (date to be agreed with the schools).

UPPER SECONDARY SCHOOL CLASSES
PROPOSAL 2 for classes
"At School of Europe" series of meetings, lessons designed to explain Italian and European citizenship (history, institutions, citizenship and mobility) to younger generations, delivered by specialised staff.
=> At upper secondary schools throughout the Veneto Region, January-March 2027 (date to be agreed with the schools).

PROPOSAL 3 for classes
"Let's Become European Citizens" Competition 2026-2027, open to individual students or entire classes through a written paper or graphic project, organised in cooperation with the European Federalist Movement (MFE)The prize is a European studies and holiday programme in Nocera Umbra, from 19 to 24 July 2027.
=> Application submission: by email no later than 20 April 2027
=> Award ceremony: Mestre, at the Candiani Cultural Centre, May 2027, as part of the Europe Day Celebrations in Venice.

PROPOSAL 5 for classes
Educational Exhibition "The Founding Mothers and Fathers of the European Union", featuring 22 self-standing bilingual Italian-English panels on the visionary leaders (women and men) who inspired the creation of the European Union. Installation, opening event and dismantling are organised by Europe Direct. See details of the 2026 edition

PROPOSAL 6 for classes
Virtual educational module "Diploma in Your Pocket: What Can You Do Abroad?", a virtual lesson on transnational educational mobility, presenting study and work opportunities abroad for upper secondary school and university students, with a focus on post-secondary guidance and international opportunities.
=> For upper secondary schools throughout the Veneto Region.

PROPOSAL 7 for students
Free Webinars Series "Explore the World... Veneto on the Move", afternoon online meetings on transnational educational mobility, presenting opportunities for study and work abroad for upper secondary school and university students, with a focus on international guidance after obtaining a diploma.

PROPOSAL 8 for students and professors
European Civic Education Training and Information Module "Lessons of Europe – Webinar Series", aimed at providing basic knowledge of European affairs to teachers, students, and the wider public. The module is delivered online, either live or in recorded format.
The module also includes a study visit in May 2027 to the M9 - Museum of the 20th Century in Mestre-Venice: free admission to the museum and a guided tour with a European-themed educational itinerary.
=> For teachers of all school levels throughout the Veneto Region.
