Spring of Europe in Venice

 

Between 18th and 29th March the "Primavera dell'Europa" (Spring of Europe) initiative, promoted by the European Commission Representation in Italy, will spread throughout Italy and will include the creation of numerous events in schools and among citizenship. With the aim of bringing Europe among citizens, especially the youngest, and promoting their active participation in the democratic life of the Union, the City of Venice also mobilizes and organizes numerous initiatives aimed at citizenship.
These events are organized in collaboration with the European "antenna" at local level, the Europe Direct Information Center Venice Veneto, which, on this occasion celebrates 20 years of active presence in the Municipality of Venice.

- "A flag for Europe" for citizenship

From 18th to 29th March, the Europe Direct office intends to promote the spirit of active participation of citizens by delivering the European flag free of charge in its municipal offices at the following times:

via Spalti 28, 30174 Venezia Mestre
On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9.00 am to 1.00 am.
Tuesdays also from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm

Ca' Farsetti, San Marco 4136 - Venezia
On Thursday from 9.00 am alle 1.00 am

Citizenship is invited to show it and to show it on social media through photos or videos to be published on the social profiles of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, using the hashtag #EuropeDirectVenezia and tagging the social profiles of Europe Direct. Alternatively, photos can be sent to infoeruopa@comune.venezia.it or via Whatsapp at 3458358360.
Citizens taking part in this initiative will also receive a tribute on the occasion of the Europe Day that will be held on Wednesday 22 May at 16.00 at the Dante d'Essai Cinema.

- "A flag for Europe" for schools

The "A flag for Europe" initiative is a further occasion in which the City of Venice meets young students, new voters for the next European elections, and invites them to take an active part in the electoral process.
During these four days, on the 18th and 19th in Mestre and on the 25th and 27th in Venice, the President of the Municipal Council Ermelinda Damiano will personally deliver the European flag to the secondary schools of the second degree. With this symbolic gesture, the City of Venice intends to involve young people for European elections and to stimulate active participation in European citizenship.

- Cycle of meetings "At school with Europe"

Inserted in the broader program of initiatives organized for "Primavera dell'Europa", the series of meetings "At school with Europe" is held between January and March 2019 in numerous secondary schools of the second degree of the lagoon and neighboring territory. The meetings deal with European issues ranging from European Union priorities, European institutions, European citizenship and the future of Europe. Since they are oriented towards classes IV and V the events are interactive and they stimulate discussion on the proposed themes and on the forthcoming European Parliament elections. The aim is also to investigate the nature of European institutions and policies, opportunities for young people and transnational mobility.
These meetings are included in the calendar of events on the Primavera dell'Europa website.

- "Musical walk in Mestre"

On the occasion of the European Day of Ancient Music, the city of Venice promotes a "Musical Walk" held on Thursday 21th March. Organized by Europe Direct Venice Veneto and numerous schools and local associations, this day is included among the activities organized by the Municipality of Venice for the "Le Città in Festa" initiative and includes a walk with short stages accompanied by the performance of music by young artists.
