EPAS European Parliament Ambassador School Programme s.y. 2026-2027

The EPAS European Parliament Ambassador School Programme initiative will also take place during the 2026-2027 school year. The project aims to bring students closer to European institutions.

EPAS is a programme that offers secondary school students the opportunity to understand their rights as EU citizens and learn about the role of the European Parliament. The project is free of charge and is open to third- and fourth-year students attending Italian upper secondary schools.

REGISTRATION

Registrations for the EPAS European Parliament Ambassador School Programme in Italy are open from Monday, 7 September 2026 to Wednesday, 30 September 2026, and applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the maximum number of participating schools is reached. School principals and teachers interested in enrolling their institution can do so by completing the dedicated application form, which will be available on the European Parliament in Italy website at the following link.

A reserve list will also be established. In the event of applications submitted at the same time, priority will be given to schools located in regions with the lowest number of registrations.

To register, schools must identify a coordinating teacher, known as the Senior Ambassador, and a group of students, the Junior Ambassadors, who will take part in the training session on the European Parliament and promote awareness-raising activities on the European Union, as well as a final event on Europe Day, celebrated on 9 May. At the end of the programme, participating schools will receive the European Parliament Ambassador School plaque, while Senior and Junior Ambassadors will receive an EPAS certificate.

EPAS - The Programme

The European Parliament Ambassador School (EPAS) programme aims to raise awareness among upper secondary school students from diverse educational, social, and geographical backgrounds about European parliamentary democracy, the role of the European Parliament, and European values. The programme also seeks to encourage interaction between students and Members of the European Parliament, while providing young people with useful information on education, traineeship, and employment opportunities. In addition, the network of Ambassador Schools fosters cooperation and relationships with schools in other European countries.

EPAS involves schools from across Europe and consists of a year-long educational and training programme. Upon completion of the programme, participating schools are certified as European Parliament Ambassador Schools, while their Senior and Junior Ambassadors receive a certificate during ceremonies organized by the local European Parliament Liaison Offices, often attended by Members of the European Parliament, national and local authorities, and partner organizations. In the Veneto region, the final EPAS event takes place in Venice thanks to the collaboration between Europe Direct Venezia Veneto of the Municipality of Venice and the European Parliament Office in Milan. The event brings together the European Parliament Ambassador Schools of Veneto for a productive exchange of ideas in the presence of Members of the European Parliament representing the North-East constituency (see EPAS 2026 Project Awards Ceremony in Veneto).

Teachers and students may also have the opportunity to participate in Euroscola sessions in Strasbourg and in other events organized by the European Parliament in the Member States, as well as in Brussels and Strasbourg.

In addition, schools will have the opportunity to visit the new “Europa Experience - David Sassoli” centre in Rome, where students can learn about the European legislative process by stepping into the shoes of Members of the European Parliament. The Europa Experience centres, located in several EU capitals, allow millions of visitors to embark on an interactive journey through Europe, discovering its institutions, understanding how European democracy works, and strengthening their sense of European citizenship. The aim is to ensure that Italian students can make the most of this interactive learning space. Schools will therefore be able to book guided tours, take part in interactive simulations of the work of Members of the European Parliament, and use the conference room to organize events on European topics.
