Video “The Founding Mothers and Fathers of the European Union”

#FestaEuVenezia2020

Tuesday, May 5, 2020 there was the publication of the new video 'The Founding Mothers and Fathers of the European Union" as a prelude to its traveling exhibition to be held at the M9-Museum of the '900 Mestre (Venice) in October 2020.

The Europe Direct of the City of Venice has taken care of the production of the new video on "The founding mothers and fathers of the European Union".

The service Europe Direct Venezia Veneto offers since 2015 the educational exhibition "The Founding Mothers and Fathers of the European Union", on official documentation of the European Commission.

The exhibition is dedicated to the 7 women and 13 men who inspired the creation of the European Union in which we live today.

Founding Mothers:

Marga Klompé,
Anna Lindh,
Melina Mercouri,
Nicole Fontaine,
Ursula Hirschmann,
Louise Weiss,
Simone Veil

Founding Fathers:

Konrad Adenauer,
Joseph Bech,
Johan Willem Beyen,
Winston Churchill,
Alcide De Gasperi,
Walter Hallstein,
Sicco Mansholt,
Jean Monnet,
Robert Schuman,
Paul-Henri Spaak,
Altiero Spinelli,
Helmut Kohl,
François Mitterand

The main intention of the exhibition is to emphasize how these women and men were convinced that the people of Europe, while remaining proud of their identity and their national history, were determined to overcome the old divisions and build together their common destiny.

The exhibition is dedicated to the 7 women and 13 men - visionary leaders - who inspired the creation of the European Union in which we live today.
The following visionary leaders inspired the creation of the European Union in which we live today.
Without their commitment and motivation we cannot live in the context of peace and stability that we take for granted today. Resistance fighters or lawyers and parliamentarians, the EU pioneers were a heterogeneous group of people with the same ideals: peace, unity and prosperity in Europe.
In addition to the pioneers presented below, many others have inspired the project and worked hard to realize it.
