From 18 to 31 October 2025, the exhibition “The founding mothers and fathers of the European Union” will be held at Palazzo Guarienti, home to the municipal library, Via Murari 2 in Valeggio sul Mincio (VR). It is organised by Europe Direct Venice Veneto of the Municipality of Venice in collaboration with the Municipality of Valeggio sul Mincio and the Movimento European Federalist Movement - section of Valeggio e Colline Moreniche, and with the support of European House of Verona, Ca' Fornelletti Association - Commitment and solidarity, Italian Catholic Adult Scout Movement , Pro Loco Valeggio and "Percorsi" Association of Valeggio sul Mincio.  

The exhibition consists of twenty-two panels in Italian and English illustrating the figures of women and men who, through their constant commitment, have contributed to transforming the European Union from a dream into reality.

The Europe Direct Venice Veneto service of the Municipality of Venice, the European Union's information point in the Veneto region, is offering the educational exhibition “The Founding Mothers and Fathers of the European Union”, based on official documentation from the European Commission.

The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge on the following days: Monday, Thursday, Friday from 3pm to 7pm, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Palazzo Guarienti, Municipal Library, Via Murari 2. 

The inauguration will take place on Saturday, 18 October at 11:30 a.m. in the presence of the following authorities:

  • Italo Vantini, President of the European Federalist Movement
  • Giorgio Anselmi, President of the Casa d'Europa in Verona

The common thread running through the exhibition is the conviction of these men and women that the peoples of Europe, while remaining proud of their identity and national history, were determined to overcome old divisions and build their common destiny together. The exhibition is divided into 21 panels and combines drawings and photographs with a series of bilingual texts, written in Italian and English, in order to reach both national and international audiences.
