26.02.2024 "A Flag for Europe"

On Monday, February 26, 2024 at 9:30 a.m., the meeting "A Flag for Europe" was held with the Provincial Council of Students of Venice and the School Representatives of the Metropolitan City at the Auditorium of the Metropolitan City of Venice at 191 Forte Marghera Street in Mestre-Venice.

The meeting was sponsored by the Presidency of the Council of the City of Venice, Europe Direct Venezia Veneto of the City of Venice, the Provincial Council of Students and the USR Regional School Office for Veneto on the occasion of the European Elections 2024, to raise awareness among secondary school students in the Metropolitan City of Venice about voting in the upcoming European elections on June 6, 2024.
In addition, City Council President Ermelinda Damiano handed over the European flag, a symbol of unity and shared values of democracy, to the Representatives of the various Institutes who in turn will deliver it to their schools. It was a symbolic gesture to involve students, a way of paying special attention to young people who represent the new electorate, in the process of preparing for the European elections and to stimulate active participation in European citizenship by raising awareness of voting.

PROGRAM 

  • Institutional greetings by the President of the Venice City Council Ermelinda Damiano and Fiorangela Giampaolo Gallo -USRV
  • Speeches by Francesca Vianello, Vittoria Cravin and Elia Paludetto -Europe Direct Venezia Veneto of the City of Venice 
  • Speech by Dario Zoli -Electoral Office of the Municipality of Venice 
  • Handing over of the European flag by Ermelinda Damiano, President of the Venice City Council
  • Debate with students moderated by Lorenzo Bracciali -CPS Venice

 

The institutes involved were for the territory of the Venice Municipality: Algarotti, Foscarini, Parini, Morin, Luzzati, Gritti, Pacinotti, Marco Polo, Benedetti Tommaseo, Vendramin Corner, Abate Zanetti, Bruno Franchetti, Zuccante, Barbarigo, Levi Ponti, Foscarini, Luzzato, Cornaro, Stefanini, Edison Volta, Michelangelo Guggenheim, Marinelli Fonte; for Portogruaro: XXV Aprile, Leonardo Da Vinci and Marco Belli; for San Donà di Piave: Leon Battista Alberti, Galileo Galilei and Scarpa Mattei; for Mirano: Majorana Corner.
