25.05.2026 CAFFÈ EUROPA series of meetings "Protection of human rights and the ECHR"

On Monday, 25 May 2026, from 4:30 pm at the Courtyard Café of Ca' Foscari University of Venice in Venice, the event “Protection of human rights and the ECHR” will take place, the third and final meeting of the “CAFFÈ EUROPA” series, a successful format of the European Parliament – Information Office in Milan, involving citizens and focusing on current key topics.

 

The ‘CAFFÈ EUROPA’ series of events is a highlight of the Europe Day celebrations in Venice, and this event is the result of a collaboration between Europe Direct of the City of Venice and Ca' Foscari University of Venice.

 

Human rights are not abstract concepts, but fragile achievements that require the awareness and commitment of every single European citizen. We will discuss this important issue with experts in the field, highlighting the role played by the European Convention on Human Rights and its Court, analysing it not as a static document from 1950, but as a ‘living organism’ capable of protecting citizens against abuses of power and adapting to the challenges of modernity, from the protection of privacy in the digital age to the protection of the environment.
