23.02.2026 Forum "Shadows of war: Middle East (in)security in a Multipolar World"

On Monday, 23 February 2026, at 8:45 a.m., the lecture "Shadows of war: Middle East (in)security in a Multipolar World" will be held in Venice, organised by the Consular Corps of Venice and Veneto in collaboration with Ca' Foscari University of Venice (Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage, Department of Linguistic and Comparative Cultural Studies, Department of Economics, PISE) and Europe Direct Venezia Veneto of the Municipality of Venice. 

The lecture offers a reflection on security dynamics in the Middle East in an increasingly multipolar international context, illustrating the main sources of instability and ongoing geopolitical changes. The effects of these transformations on international relations and European policies will also be examined.

The lecture will take place in Room 1B of the San Basilio Teaching Centre (Magazzino 5), Venice, and will be held in English. Admission is free and open to the public until all available seats are taken.

The meeting, dedicated to students and the public, will feature a presentation by Professor Emma Soubrier of the University of Nice and will be moderated by Professor Matteo Legrenzi of Ca' Foscari University of Venice.

Professor Emma Soubrier:

Emma Soubrier is a researcher and associate professor at the Department of International and European Law (LADIE) at the Université Côte d'Azur in Nice, where she focuses on security in the Persian Gulf countries, foreign policy and global arms trade.

She is also director of the PRISME initiative at various international centres, with numerous publications on human security, Middle East strategies and defence policies.
