Town twinning between the Cities of Venice and Suzhou

On March 24 1980, the Town Twinning between the cities of Venice and Suzhou was signed with the aim of contributing to the growth of friendship between the populations of the cities of the two countries.
The purpose is to increase friendly exchanges and develop cooperation between the two cities in various fields: cultural, artistic, technical, scientific, economic, tourism, administrative and urban management.
The Town Twinning between the two cities has continued over time and has been strengthened by mutual visits of delegations from both municipalities to the two countries.

In 2007, the two cities signed the Memorandum of Deepening Friendly Relations of Cooperation and Exchange, and in 2019, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed.

The city of Suzhou

Suzhou is a city located in East China's Jiangsu Province, famous for its classical gardens, canals and textile traditions. With more than 2,500 years of history, the city is also known as the “Venice of the East.” Among its main attractions there are the UNESCO World Heritage Gardens and the Temple of the Master of the Nets. Suzhou is also an important cultural and commercial center.
