14.05.2026 Webinar "Lessons of Europe 2026" - Lesson 9 ‘From idea to funding: a guide to European project planning’

On Thursday 14 May 2026, from 10.00 am to 11.30 am, the ninth webinar in the ‘Lessons from Europe’ series will take place, entitled ‘From idea to funding: a guide to European project planning’.

The session is coordinated by Francesca Vianello of Europe Direct Venezia Veneto, with a presentation by Marcello Traversi of Eurosportello Confesercenti - Enterprise Europe Network.
The session focuses on how to apply for European funding calls, analysing in particular the aspects related to identifying the appropriate call and correctly structuring and drafting the project proposal. Practical examples relating to various calls will be provided to illustrate the theoretical points discussed.
Initially, we will analyse the funding opportunities made available by the European Union and how to understand their characteristics and the procedures for participating in calls for proposals, including an analysis of some of the main programmes and the relevant documentation. In particular, we will address the issue of how to identify the ‘right’ call for proposals, one that aligns with both our project idea and our technical, organisational and financial capabilities.
The second topic concerns the approach to drafting a high-quality proposal that meets our needs as well as the requirements and expectations of the call for proposals. Guidance is provided on how to transform the project idea into a structured proposal to be submitted to the funding body. The session continues by examining the various evaluation and funding selection procedures, before moving on to discuss aspects relating to the proper management of the funded project’s implementation, with a view to facilitating reporting and the achievement of the objectives and expected outcomes.
Finally, the institutional resources available for obtaining information and initial support regarding access to calls for proposals are identified.
The aim is to provide participants with a useful framework for understanding the main challenges of participating in European calls for proposals and to acquire the theoretical and practical foundations for identifying the most suitable call and correctly drafting a competitive project proposal.
The event is organised in collaboration with Europe Direct and the EEN (Enterprise Europe Network), the largest European support network for small and medium-sized enterprises, which focuses on promoting innovation, digitalisation, internationalisation and sustainability.

The meeting will be held online from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. and is free and open to all citizens, university and secondary school students, and journalists.
