08.05.2026 - Europe Day in Treviso

On Friday 8 May 2026, from 8.30 to 14.30, Europe Day was celebrated in Treviso at the Giorgio Fermi State Institute with a special event organised by the institute’s “European Parliament Ambassadors” in collaboration with local upper secondary schools, the Treviso Provincial Student Council, the Municipality of Treviso, the Treviso Youth Project and Europe Direct Venezia Veneto of the Municipality of Venice.

The event commemorated 9 May 1950, one of the two most significant dates in European history, which marked the birth of the European Union with the "Schuman Declaration" delivered during the Paris speech.

The day, which was attended by delegations from 15 schools, was dedicated to exploring the European Union and offered students the opportunity to discuss the challenges and values of European citizenship. The themes of the committees were:
  • Geopolitics, current affairs and democracy
  • Prevention of violence
  • AI and privacy
  • Migration
 

The initiative aimed at actively engage students in a process of informed and participatory European citizenship, promoting youth leadership and peer-to-peer dialogue.

Programme for the day:
  • 8:00 – 8:30 => Welcome and initial introductions
  • 8:30 – 9:00 => Official opening and institutional greetings, with the participation of the Europa Ambassadors and representatives of the European Student Parliament (ESP)
  • 9:00 – 9:30 => Kick-off: ideas, objectives and team spirit
  • 9:30 – 12:30 => Group work sessions
  • 12:00 – 13:00 => Lunch break
  • 13:00 – 14:30 => Final plenary session: presentation of results
