From 5 to 15 May 2025 the facades of Ca' Farsetti and Ca' Loredan, of the City Hall of Mestre and the Civic Tower of Mestre were illuminated in blue.

The City of Venice intends in this way to celebrate also in 2025 the Festival of Europe , which is celebrated on 9 May, in memory of the "Schuman Declaration", a speech given in 1950 by the then French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman, in which he set out the idea of a new form of political cooperation for Europe, which would make war between the continental nations unthinkable. 

The blue lighting also recalls the 5 May 1949, the founding of the Council of Europe (through the Treaty of London), which has its only Italian headquarters in Venice.
