Educational module "EUROPE ENTERS THE CLASSROOM" with educational game "Travelling to Europe"

Explaining the European Union and its institutions to citizens, especially young people, is often a difficult task. There is therefore a need for an overall strategy that aims to implement the European dimension of education in terms of values and knowledge as a continuous process of interaction based on respect for pluralism and diversity, which are the heritage and wealth of the peoples of Europe.

The educational module EUROPE ENTERS CLASS with the didactic game "On a journey to Europe" is conceived and realized by the service Europe Direct since 2007 for middle schools, it is articulated in 2 moments:
- PRESENTATION TO THE PROFESSORS of the didactic game "Travelling for Europe", in which children travel virtually around the European Union asking questions about the culture, history, geography and sport of different member states. In the gym or classroom.
- MEETING WITH THE CLASS IN THE GYM of the educational game "Travelling to Europe" in which children travel virtually through the European Union, asking questions about culture, history, geography, the sport of the different Member States and in which a moment of reflection on the process of European unification, on the motto of the European Union "United in diversity" and on institutions and symbols of the Union is proposed.

"Travelling for Europe" is a team game for middle schools which consists of a quiz on the culture of the Member States and that materialises in the setting up of a large tapestry-puzzle in foam rubber depicting the 27 countries of the European Union where students move. The game "Travelling for Europe" is a virtual journey through the countries of the European Union to understand the deeper values that unite the European peoples and which form the basis for the formation of a conscience of "European citizen", thus facilitating the integration process.
The aim of the educational proposal is, through fun, to get to know other European nations with their cultural identities in comparison, to discover the customs and traditions of the different European peoples, Explore the meaning of social integration and European citizenship.

The preferred target groups are classes II and III of primary secondary schools.
