European Day of Languages - Vehicular languages over time

Thursday, September 26, 2025, marked the celebration of the European Day of Languages across Europe. This year also Venice and Treviso participated in the official celebrations with the event “European Day of Languages - Vehicular languages over time".
Ca' Foscari University of Venice, with its Department of Comparative Linguistic and Cultural Studies, the Veneto Regional School Office, the Italian headquarters of the Council of Europe, the Marciana National Library, and Europe Direct Venice Veneto of the Municipality of Venice—the European Union information network led by the Municipality of Venice in Veneto—organized the European Day of Languages 2025.

On 26 September in Venice, from 9.30am to 1pm at the Ca’ Foscari Theatre at Santa Marta, Dorsoduro 2137, Venice, the first day of celebrations for the European Day of Languages 2025, now in its 25th year, took place. During the morning, awards were presented to schools in the Veneto region that participated in the competition: “Vehicular languages: stories, tales, discussions and characters”.
