"Climate ChanCe" - Climate Change Contest 2026

Climate ChanCe Competition 2026 – 14th Edition: “Climate Crisis”

The 14th edition of the climate change competition “Climate ChanCe”, entitled “Climate Crisis”, will once again take place in 2026.
The international competition for communication and creative works, both published and unpublished, focusing on climate change is organized by Shylock – University Theatre Centre of Venice in collaboration with Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and Europe Direct Venezia Veneto of the Municipality of Venice.
Shylock – University Theatre Centre of Venice announces the 14th edition of the International Communication and Creativity Competition “Climate ChanCe”, part of the long-term project “Climate Change – The Grand Challenge”. The initiative aims to promote works and projects capable of conveying an effective message on the climate crisis and its environmental and social implications.

The Competition
The competition is open to national and international participants aged 18 and over, whether individuals or collectives, groups, associations, and public or private organizations.
Participants under the age of 18 may take part as members of school groups or informal groups coordinated by representatives over the age of 18.
Both unpublished works and already public works created using any creative medium or form of expression are eligible.

Unpublished creative communication works and projects created using any technique and form of expression may be submitted.
Participants may enter both of the following sections and submit multiple works in each section:
SECTION 1 Submission of unpublished works and projects by individual authors or collaborative groups.
SECTION 2 Nomination of published works and completed or publicly available projects by authors, publishers, or other third parties.

While not exclusively limited to these topics, the 2026 edition of the competition places particular emphasis on the following themes:
  • Investigative reporting on the effects of extreme weather events: the transformation of landscapes and the stories told by those who experience the climate crisis, whether as witnesses, protagonists, or victims.
  • Shared responsibility in addressing the climate crisis: from citizens to local administrators and national governments.
  • Mobility in Italy: inefficiencies, the cost of public transportation, and the marginalization of young people, highlighting exemplary national and international solutions.
  • Exploring sustainable alternatives to fast fashion: the “language” of reused clothing and garments produced without harming the environment.
  • Gender-based violence, gender identity, and the aggressive impact of human activity on the natural environment.
  • Experiences of social and environmental adaptation.
  • Northern Italy: balancing economic leadership with its status as a climate hotspot in the Mediterranean region.
  • Venice: as both a potential environmental laboratory and a striking example of unsustainable management.
  • Europe: where temperatures are rising faster than in the rest of the world—examining where and how we will live.
Submission Deadline: 30 September 2026, 24:00 (midnight).
Entries should be sent to concorso@cut.it.

On Thursday, 26 November 2026, this public event will be held at the Ateneo Veneto in Venice to present and share the results of the competition. The event will feature public reading of experts from the submitted texts, video screenings, and an exhibition of the nominated works, in the presence of climatologist Luca Mercalli and other experts from the scientific and cultural communities.
