23.05.2025 - #GO2025FENICE-Final concert in Gorizia

From September 2024 to May 2025, 21 classes selected among twelve Venetian schools are involved in the #GO2025FENICE project, funded by the INTERREG ITALIA-SLOVENIA Programme (Fund for small projects GO! 2025), promoted by the Municipality of Venice and the ZPGŠ Association of Slovenian Coast Music Schools (Slovenia). The partners share the common challenge of cooperating for sustainable socio-cultural development in Europe with a view to overcoming language barriers, cultural border splits and historical problems of the 1900s, as well as acting for the inclusion of minorities.

The final concert of the #GoFENICE project at the Teatro Verdi in Gorizia
Friday, May 23 the concert at the Verdi Theatre in Gorizia, opened on the notes of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy, marked the goal of the project #GO2025FENICE, coordinated by the Municipality of Venice in partnership with the Association of Slovenian Coastal Music Schools ZPGŠ and funded by the European Union under the Small Project Fund (Fondo per piccoli progetti) of the Interreg VI-A Italia-Slovenia Programme 2021-2027, managed by the GECT GO.
Protagonist, on stage, the choir of the school Gabelli, class IV C, of the inclusive Franca Ongaro Institute of the Lido di Venezia that last January was awarded the cross-border music competition for new generations, together with peers from the Slovenian music school Ilirska Bistrica. The young musicians were accompanied by the orchestra of the Teatro La Fenice.
The competition was attended by 21 classes from Venice and 9 from Slovenia who each produced a video clip interpreting an original version of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy in Slovenian and Italian. The videos were submitted to a public vote on Facebook and YouTube where the popular jury voted with over 21,000 votes. At the same time, after viewing the video clips, the qualitative jury defined its own ranking of merit.
After the concert, the twinning was sealed by the musical walk of European friendship, organized by the Municipality of Gorizia, and culminated with the composition of the great puzzle of the Italian, Slovenian and European flags and the distribution of 1000 bio-musical sweets in the shape of a heart. Skilled chefs and pastry chefs have joined Venice to Slovenia using only ingredients at zero km.
The experience of #GO2025FENICE, as explained during the conference, will also lead to the creation of two multimedia teaching tools: the bilingual Edu Kit to teach the Hymn to Joy and the musical alphabet for teaching the Italian and Slovenian language to younger children. The project was completed with the collaboration of Fenice Education, Rotary District 2060, Rotary Club of Venice and Gorizia, Slovenian Center for Music Education Emil Komel, Italian Union, Confcommercio Gorizia, Pastry shop Milady, Pekarna Brumat and Istituto Armando Curcio Editore.
