=> On Friday 22 May 2026, from 11.00 am to 12.00 pm via Zoom, the online event “How many forms are there in the world? The biodiversity around us and beyond” will take place. It is aimed at nursery and primary schools enrolled in the Ocean Schools educational programme run by Ocean Space and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary Academy, in collaboration with Europe Direct Venezia Veneto of the City of Venice

In May, the Ocean Schools educational programme, run by TBA21–Academy at Ocean Space, comes to a close with “How Many Forms Are There in the World? The Biodiversity Around Us and Beyond”, the final event which brings together, in the former church of San Lorenzo, the results of the work carried out throughout the school year by pupils from all over Italy.

Throughout the year, classes at all school levels explored the theme of biodiversity through an interdisciplinary programme that combined scientific observation with artistic practice. Guided by teaching materials, accessible science snippets and a video workshop by the artist Claudia Losi, the pupils observed and collected natural elements found in their local ecosystems, developing a keen eye for the forms, structures and variations of nature.

=> On Friday 22 May 2026, from 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm, to mark International Biodiversity Day, Ocean Space will open its doors to the school community and the public for the closing event of the Ocean Schools programme, featuring the artist Claudia Losi, for an evening dedicated to the convergence of art, education and community engagement.

For the Ocean Schools programme, Losi has proposed a specific adaptation of the “Anìmule” project in which, through the manipulation and tearing of paper, a multitude of forms and hybrid combinations can be created, where the real and the fantastical coexist. “Anìmule” is a multifaceted project by the artist, launched in 2022, which brings together various disciplines and focuses on workshop sessions with different audiences.

For the Ocean Schools programme, the outlines of the shapes created by the pupils and the natural objects they have collected are transformed into modular designs inspired by traditional hand-weaving patterns. The work produced by the classes will be sent to and collected at Ocean Space, where it will form part of the programme’s closing event.
