The historic centre of Venice provides the setting for the film series "In Campo San Polo, A Look at Europe": from Saturday 1 to Sunday 16 August 2026, sixteen days dedicated to European cinema, featuring feature films, short films and fiction films from different European countries. The programme will be accompanied by presentations and discussions developed in close collaboration with several international institutions.
Two weeks of cinema. Feature films and short films from Hungary, France, Spain and beyond; independent productions and films selected by the European Parliament's LUX Audience Award, as well as an evening dedicated to international independent cinema with Venice Film Week. A look beyond borders, a look at ourselves, at the many stories that connect and define us—different yet alike, all rooted in Europe.
 
All screenings are free of charge, subject to venue capacity.

EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT LUX AUDIENCE AWARD
A special focus is dedicated to the European Parliament's LUX Audience Award, which celebrates European cinema and aims to raise awareness of social, political and cultural issues across Europe. The initiative is organised in collaboration with Europe Direct Venezia Veneto of the Municipality of Venice, the European Parliament Liaison Office in Milan and the LUX Audience Award.
Four evenings will be dedicated to films that have won or been nominated for the 2026 LUX Audience Award, on 1, 5, 10 and 15 August 2026, at 9.00 pm.
All films will be screened in their original language with Italian subtitles.

Sunday 2 August, 9.00 pm - Véletlenül írtam egy könyvet (I Accidentally Wrote a Book, Hungary, 2024, 98 min, original version with Italian subtitles), family film, directed by Nóra Lakos
A deeply personal and inspiring story about a twelve-year-old girl who discovers the healing power of writing. Through storytelling, Nina reconstructs her family's history, confronts the loss of her mother and gains a new understanding of herself. A film combining live action and animation that celebrates the wonder of storytelling.
Monday 3 August, 9.00 pm - Mephisto (Hungary, 1981, 144 min, original version with Italian subtitles), drama, directed by István Szabó
Based on Klaus Mann's novel and winner of the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1982, the film follows the rise of Hendrik Höfgen, a talented actor who progressively compromises his integrity under the Nazi regime in pursuit of success. A powerful reflection on art, power and individual responsibility.
Tuesday 4 August, 9.00 pm- És mi van Tomival? (What Happened to Tomi?, Hungary, 2024, 96 min, original version with Italian subtitles), drama, directed by Attila Till
A moving yet humorous story about a man attempting to rebuild his life and reconnect with his daughter after years of absence. Addressing alcoholism with empathy and without moral judgement, the film offers a hopeful perspective on redemption and recovery

Friday 7 August, 9.00 pm - À l'abordage (France, 2020, 95 min, original version with Italian subtitles), comedy, directed by Guillaume Brac
One summer evening in Paris, Félix meets Alma. When she leaves for southern France the next morning, he decides to follow her, embarking on a chaotic road trip with two friends. A light-hearted and engaging story about love, friendship and self-discovery.

The true story of Manolo Vital, a symbol of social activism in 1970s Barcelona, who fought to secure better transport links and public services for the working-class neighbourhood of Torre Baró.
 
VENICE FILM WEEK
 
Coinciding with the final evening of Cinemoving, the closing event of Venice Film Week, the festival dedicated to independent cinema, will take place in Campo San Polo.
A selection of international films in their original language with Italian subtitles will be screened.
Now in its eleventh edition, Venice Film Week promotes emerging talents and filmmakers experimenting with new cinematic languages. Every year, directors from around the world present original and innovative works in the unique setting of Venice, a city synonymous with art and culture.
The Venice Film Week programme will take place:
