16.04.2026 Webinar "Lessons of Europe 2026" - Lesson 4 "The Atlantic divide widens: the crisis in US–EU relations in the new global order"

On Thursday, 16 April 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30, the fourth webinar in the “Lessons of Europe” series will be held, titled “The Atlantic divide widens: the crisis in US–EU relations in the new global order”.

The lecture is coordinated by Carmela Basile, Europe Direct Molise, with contributions from Giovanni Bronzini, University for Foreigners of Perugia, and Daniele Curci, University of Siena.

Since the Second World War, one of the pillars of US policy has been the indivisibility of American security from that of its European allies, together with support for multilateralism and international institutions, starting with the United Nations. However, this now belongs to the world of yesterday. US President Donald Trump, elected for a second term in the White House, has made a series of choices, both economic and political-strategic, that have destabilised transatlantic relations, confronting the European Union with an unprecedented and unexpected scenario. The question now is whether the EU will be able to develop solutions to respond effectively to the new political direction that has taken hold in Washington.

The meeting will be held online from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. and is free and open to all citizens, university and secondary school students, and journalists.
