On Saturday 9th May at 2.30 pm the event “European Union, past and present” was held a conversation with Virgilio Dastoli, President of the Italian Council of the Euroepan Movement, interviewed by Livio Karrer, from the team of M9. The Podcast can be found on M9 - Museo del '900 social networks, project #FDVonair www.facebook.com/M9museum.

The recording of the interview is available at the following link.

Pier Virgilio Dastoli recalled the main political steps that led to the construction of the European Union starting from the Schuman Declaration of 70 years ago, in a special episode of the column “A tu per tu con…” of  #FDVONAIR project by Fondazione di Venezia and M9, dedicated to the Europe Day celebrations.

The catastrophic experience of World War II and of Shoah convinced some European politicians, among whom Robert Schuman, Jean Monnet, Konrad Adenauer, but also the italian Altiero Spinelli and Ernesto Rossi, confined at Ventonene by the Fascist regime, to envision for the second postwar the development of a peaceful and federalist cohabitation among European nations. The conversation between Livio Karrer (curator of M9 - Museo del '900) and Pier Virgilio Dastoli (President of the Euroepan Movement) focused on this federative path,  characterized by uncertainties and stebacks, but also by fruitful recoveries. Pier Virgilio Dastoli commented on the politacal perspective of the European Union facing the current sanitary, economic and social emergency and the initiatives for the launch of the Recovery Plan aimed at sustaining all the economies of member States that are in crisis.
