Takes off a new experimental information service about the tide, technologically advanced and open to a global scenario: it is called hi!Tide and it is a project realized by the A-Pole team, a group of engineers from the Department of InformationEngineering, University Of Padua (Filippo Zanella, Fabio Maran, Pizzocaro Diego) out of an idea of the Institution CPSM.
Thanks to a free downloadable application from the Apple Store or Google Market, users of an iPhone or smartphone with Android operating system, can quickly and intuitively access to information about the state of the tide in Venice.
You will be informed on tide level in real time, with its color code, on tide forecast elaborated by the Centre for the current day a nd the next two days, with indication of maximum and minimum and graphic In Addtion, you will know the walking level in various popular places in the city and the elevation of all ACTV docks. For both last two parameters, the difference between that level and tide level will be reported in real time.
The project hi!Tide was created by the Tides Center - which has obtained it at no cost - to expand the forecasting and reporting devices, extending them to mobile devices, knowing they will become more and more common and widespread among all age groups, achieving in real-time users in all parts of the world.
The problem of the tide in Venice will be so designed to integrate daily life of an enormous user base, allowing this way also an interaction between users and the Tides Center.
