This section has information on access to Venice's insulas (the 123 small islands surrounded by canals that make up the city's historic centre); that is, on how to reach the different locations by public transport (waterbus lines and "giracittà" motorboats).

The map below shows the six sestieri, or districts, making up Venice's historic centre:
Cannaregio, Castello, Dorsoduro, San Marco, San Polo, Santa Croce) and Giudecca Island.
Clicking on the sestiere opens a detailed map visualising the corresponding insulas colour-coded according to accessibility.
The fact sheet for each insula includes a list of the local hotels.
